Ben Acquaye
Ben Acquaye is a former Co-Chair of the Lloydminster Local Immigration Partnership. This organization works to improve the quality of life for newcomers, immigrants, and refugees. He is also an instructor and a former Chair at the School of Business, Lakeland College.
He helped organize events for the first ever Black History Month at Lakeland College in 27 years in 2023. He has been a keynote speaker, panel member, workshop facilitator, and resource person for many events in Alberta and beyond. His recent speeches include the following:
- Race and Bias – How do we Learn, Unlearn, and Relearn
- The Business of Diversity and Workplace Culture.
He is comfortable speaking to diverse audiences on topics about race, equity, diversity, and inclusion. He has a passion for public speaking and holds a Distinguished Toastmaster status at Toastmasters International.
He has lived and worked in many countries on 3 continents, so far. His background is in Business, Economics, and Adult Education. He is a thinker and a passionate speaker. He uses stories and paints vivid pictures from his experiences to engage audiences.
He spends his spare time training young adults and new migrants in the art of public speaking and leadership. He has in the last 5 years acted as a speaking coach for high school students in Lloydminster. He has also served as a Judge for many speaking competitions.
He recently received the Friends of Diversity (individual) award at the Diversity Awards in Red Deer. At Lakeland College, he received the Unsung Hero Award from the Students’ Association of Lakeland College.
