Carrie Smith is Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Professor of German Studies at the University of Alberta. She also serves as Faculty lead for equity, diversity, and inclusion. Her research is located at the intersection of feminist activism and digital culture, including its practices, products, politics, theories, and communities. A secondary research thread looks at feminist interventions into the academic institution as well as the possibilities for activism from the top in antiracist leadership. She has written two books and edited eight essay collections, Transverse Disciplines: Queer-Feminist, Anti-racist, and Decolonial Approaches to the University (with Simone Pfleger, 2022). She has been comanaging editor of three international journals and is codirector of the Digital Feminist Collective research group at digitalfeministcollective.net.
